Teaser Thursday

Hi everyone! This site has been quiet for the past couple of weeks. That is mainly because I’ve been so busy with getting ‘Last Ashes’ out to you guys. If you haven’t heard about it yet, ‘Last Ashes’ is the second book in the ‘Fire of the Soul Series’. It’s out on all ebook sites including Amazon, iBooks, Nook, Kobo and Smashwords! I’ll be starting a new thing called ‘Teaser Thursdays’ where I’ll post a 400-500 word snippet from my current WIP (Work In Progress). At the moment that is ‘The Eternal Flame’ the third and final book in the ‘Fire of the Soul Series’. This weeks is from Chapter 1 and is from Anna’s perspective. I hope you enjoy it!

Darkness. Death. Silence. It was all I ever knew until Victor and Christian had come into my life. Despite the war we had endured, despite their hatred of each other, there had been moments of joy. Moments that I cherished, moments that were important. Moments which left memories that I wouldn’t trade for anything. Then there were moments I wish I could escape, moments that still haunt me. Memories of death that plague my mind, that wake me from my dreams in fits of panic. I search the darkness for their faces and only lay back down in a shivering mess when I realize that they are not with me in the darkness. In those moments I am powerless to think of anything else but their deaths. In my mind I can see them dying over and over again, a gruesome display of the deaths that I am responsible of. Meg, Simon, Victor and Christian. Even with Manea’s confirmation of Meg and Simon’s happiness, I can still see my father hovering around Simon’s blood-stained body, Simon’s eyes staring at me and pleading me to run. I still see my hands plunging the knife into Meg’s heart. Yes, it had been a Skin-walker but it had worn Meg’s face and I was damned to spend the rest of my life seeing that image. I still see Christian plunging the blade into Victor’s chest. I still see Christian murdering Astoria in cold blood. I still Kayden plunging the blade into Christian’s chest. I see their deaths as if were happening right in front of my eyes and the list keeps growing as I witness more. I can’t deny the emotions warring in my heart. I want revenge. I want blood. I want to avenge their deaths. I want all this because I know what I truly want, which is to have them back and alive, is impossible. I should know. I’ve tried. I tried to bring Christian back when he died. In the past week I’ve tried to bring Astoria back. I tried but failed. Even if I could try to bring Meg and Simon back I know that I won’t be able to. It’s too late to save any of them.

So there it is, the first of many. Subscribe to my blog to keep up to date and to see next weeks teaser. Leave a comment below and let me know what you think about it!

Trial of Marriage – Mini Blog Hop Stop #2

trials mini blog banner

Hi Guys,

I’ve been asked to participate in a blog stop for R. Lynn Archie who is the author of the “Trail of Marriage” series.

Trial of Marriages is a novel about romance and commitment. It’s about the struggles of a couple and their devotion to make things work in their marriage.

Despite the fact that I don’t read much of romance I have found the series interesting. R. Lynn Archie shares a fascinating story that evokes a readers empathy, sympathy and love for this couple.

R Lynn Archie has agreed to participate in an interview for me. Below is our conversation where she shares her thoughts on her series ‘Trail of Marriage’.

Racquel: Why did you decide to write ‘Trail of Marriage’?

R Lynn: The first book was my brain child. The characters and plot was constantly on my mind, especially at night when I was sleeping. It got to the point where I couldn’t ignore the desire to write and out of all my thoughts, Trial of Marriage was born.

Racquel: Book one seemed to end on a good note for Trey and Angelique. So I have to ask was there a reason why you decided to write a sequel?

R Lynn: I originally wrote it to be one book but I wasn’t ready to let go of my main character, Trey and Angelique Moretti just yet.

Racquel: I have to ask, while reading ‘Trail of Marriages 2: Sacrifices’ I was overwhelmed with sympathy for both Trey and Angelique. There seemed to be a certain focal point for the sequel. Could you let us know what that focal point is?

R Lynn: The focal point for book two is there has to be a two way line of communication because even the individual with the best intension can spiral out of control by making indecisive and wrong decisions. Book two introduces the circumstance at hand.

Racquel: I must say that the sequel ‘Trial of Marriage 2: Sacrifices’ was outstanding. Did you feel there was a driving force or motive to the direction of the story?

R Lynn: Before I even began writing Trial of Marriage 2:  Sacrifices I knew which direction the story was headed and either my readers were going to like it or be pushed off by it. Since I tend to go in the direction that feels right for me, I went with the latter and it’s something that’s not expected.

I can only say that I look forward to reading more of this talented author’s works!

About the Author

R Lynn Archie Author Pic

From the moment I learned letters formed words, I fell in love with reading. I will read anything as long as it peaks my interest, but my preference and love will always be romance. For so long I toyed with the idea of writing my own books, only I procrastinated by pushing it to the back burner multiple times. Then one day while book searching, I had an “aha moment,” there truly was no real reason to keep delaying publishing except for the fear no one would like my writing. Once I decided I wasn’t going to let that hold me back, I made the decision to move forward and fulfill my lifelong dream of writing my own romance novel.

I also never intended to write in different genres, it just happened that way; nonetheless, the common element that combines all my books is the relationship aspect, and that is why I consider myself a romance author. It is nice having the freedom to change things up and not concentrate on just one genre. My first book Trial of Marriage (TOM Series), an interracial romance published in 2012. I recently did an edit of the story and republished it on April 30, 2014. I followed that release with a vampire themed romance called Eternal Existence, I release it in2013. My current book from the TOM series is Trial of Marriage 2:  Sacrifices; It was published on June 6.

Working a full-time job, combined with being a wife and mom, can be pretty hectic when it comes to finding writing time, but I make it work because I take pleasure in creating my works of fiction. I do have to admit, one thing that keeps me sane is laughter. I feel it’s the best medicine for taking one out of a rut. For me, every day is a precious gift, and I’m enjoying it by doing what I’m passionate about.

Monday Mania: Top 15 Favorite Shows

Hi everybody,

It’s Monday Mania time. Every week there’s a new episode to a favorite show. This past few weeks several of my favorite shows have aired their season finale and have gone on break until the new season is ready to air (i.e. Hannibal, Grimm, Once Upon a Time, The Big Bang Theory and Hart of Dixie). Other shows like Game of Thrones (which again has killed off a new fav. character – no spoilers for those yet to watch the episode) are still on air but insists on tearing out your hearts and watching you bleed. Therefore I’ve decided this week’s list will be my favorite shows regardless if their on break, airing or ended completely (R.I.P Heroes and Sylar). Here is the top 15!

15.  Hart of Dixie

14. The Big Bang Theory

13. Beauty and the Beast (2012/13)

12. The Walking Dead

Walking dead

11. True Blood

10. Once Upon a Time

9. Supernatural

8. Helix

7. Haven

6. Heroes

5. Grimm

4. Game of Thrones

3. Sherlock

2. American Horror Story (Season 2: Asylum)

1. Hannibal

It’s so hard to put my favorite shows into a list. There’s so many that I love watching so there are many that didn’t make the list (including Dracula, Misfits, The Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle, Revenge and so on). To give one a higher ranking over the other isn’t fair. They’re all just as brilliant as each other. Again, I’m loving Hannibal at the moment (Despite all the feels and it ripping out my heart to give to Hanni for dinner!). I’m curious as to who is reading this and who will respond. If you have a top 15 favorite tv shows (and if you feel the love for some of my feel free to leave them in the comments below.

3. Sylar

It’s so hard to put my favorite villains into a list. To give one a higher ranking over the other isn’t fair. They’re all just as brilliant as each other.
